“If you consider an unsuccessful hunt to be a waste of time,
then the true meaning of the chase eludes you all together.” (- Fred Bear)
In the middle of the forest, I came across her magnificence. Following a romantic exchange of assaults, as our resolve reaches a limit, overflowing with courage and confidence, and with my last draw, I released my arrow aiming straight to her broken face. Thank you, magnificent creature, for this rush!
Monster Hunter World is my current go-to game. For long, my grind as a Restoration Shaman in World of Warcraft brought me to new heights; I came to understand how to take advantage of my surroundings whilst under combat stress. Given my background as a Healer, I could have opted for a support role, but Monster Hunter World gave me a considerate DPS option, the Bow.
The game offered a wide variety of really cool weapons. After getting personal with most of them, the Bow summoned in me a wonderful feeling of excitement. I did some online research prior to my selection, but nothing felt as good to me as dashing around my prey unleashing my fury. The other choices were interesting as well – I am not undermining their effectiveness – but like Cinderella’s glass slippers, my style was in perfect symbiosis with the Bow.
I am the type of player that prepares for the endgame as early as possible; I knew what kind of build I wanted to go for. The adventure of my leveling as a hunter got me tinkering with the class. Elemental, status modifier, part breaker, these were all different ways of playing with the bow. However, what gave me tiny glowing butterflies inside my belly was the Dragon Piercer skill.
In short, the skill shoots a series of special arrows designed to pierce through an entire creature’s body. The damage dealt depends on its critical points, as well as the distance the shot travels. For example, if you find yourself facing sideways, the Dragon Piercer will likely travel a shorter distance. On the other hand, if you aim the shot to travel from the head to the tip of the tail (or the other way around), the damage will be extremely amplified. As soon as I landed my first satisfactory shot, I knew that this was the skill I wanted to focus all my energy on.
Fast forward quite a few hours of gameplay…
I finally have most of my endgame build and wow, how fun it is to land those shots. I was lucky enough to grab an early decoration that granted my non-elemental Bow, the Cera Coilbender, a power boost for not having any elemental orientation. My next logical step would be to farm those stronger jewels, but I am considering building towards some of the elemental kits in preparation for Iceborn!
This is just the beginning of my journey as a hunter and hopefully, I will be able to share some of my hunts with you as well!Good Hunt!
